The atmosphere felt welcoming from the time I walked in. The service was excellent and food was amazing. I had fried pickles, a salt and pepper Gibson drink, Gage Caesar and pasta dish. Everything was great and I'll certainly be back next time I visit.

Used to go to the Gage often when I lived in Chicago. It's been years since I've been there!! Came back for St Patrick's Day celebrations with family and friends and let me tell you the crowds were bigger this year than any in the past! We had reservations for the Gage and ended up going early to get out of the crowds on the streets. As I sat at the bar I noticed every bartender and staff person were on point. They handled every patron with kindness and most excellent service!!! They were slinging drinks faster than a leprechaun chasing a rainbow! Dinner was great! The food was delicious and again the service was on point! I still love going to the Gage and they deserve top ratings!!!

Stopped into The Gage for lunch after a visit to the Art Institute, and it was the perfect spot for a quick and easy meal. We walked right in on a Monday afternoon and got a table inside with no wait. I ordered the burger, which was cooked perfectly medium rare and was pretty solid overall. I also got a cappuccino, which was surprisingly great for just $6. The staff was super friendly, and our waiter even took the time to chat with us about the restaurant's décor and history, which added a nice touch to the experience. While the food isn't necessarily mind-blowing, The Gage has great lunch options and is in an ideal location for anyone visiting the Art Institute or in the loop in general. I'd definitely come back to try another sandwich on the menu and grab drinks at the bar. Great spot for walk-ins!

Stopped by for lunch for restaurant week on a Sunday. We ordered the pub scotch egg and white asparagus bisque for the first course, steak frites for the second course, and the whipped chocolate fudge mousse and butterscotch custard tart for dessert. Overall, I thought the food was ok but it was a good value for restaurant week! The pub scotch egg was interesting to try but I enjoyed the white asparagus bisque more. My steak frites was a bit chewy but my friends was more tender even though we both got medium. I thought the whipped chocolate fudge mousse was too sweet/rich and preferred the butterscotch custard tart. I probably wouldn't come back again but I think it was a good deal and super filling for $30!

TLDR, very solid & reliably delicious brunch on a very touristy street compared to other downtown Chicago options. Slightly more upscale too. We dropped in for brunch on a Saturday morning and it was packed, but we were still able to get seated within a few minutes. The Gage is located on busy Michigan Ave, across from Millenium Park and the locus of tourist activity. Despite it being a popular spot for tourists, it's a really solid restaurant for brunch. We ordered the pub scotch egg, the coconut curry, and the gage burger. They were all solid (meaning very delicious and better than other burgers and coconut curries we could get in the city -- we live in downtown Chicago), and we would order these 3 dishes again. Ambiance is traditional, old school, dark wood & white tablecloth. You can dress up to the Gage or dress down.

An intimate setting that felt like an exclusive explorers club lounge. I was able to make a reservation on Google. I don't recall putting in any special requests but we got a lovely corner table in one of the side rooms, which made for a wonderful date setting. Very surprised at the amount of places offering poutine in Chicago! As Canadians, I give this place a thumbs up for their braised pork poutine. Lots of big cheese curds with braised pork that could have been served all on its own. The Chicken Fried Lobster was what originally drew me in. It was fantastic! Three lobster tails paired perfectly with a grilled lemon and spicy sides to complement the fried goodness of it all. I loved the innovative menu, its execution, and my overall experience here. Would love to be back!

Food: The food was great! I went out with friends and each stated they loved their meals. We all split the Brussels Sprouts Tartine between four people which was enough for everyone to have a small bite. I enjoyed the Hudson Scallops. The dish was flavorful, however, I did find it a bit smaller in portion than I was expecting for the price. Nonetheless, the food there is well seasoned --just a little pricey, but considering the area it isn't too out of range for a nice dinner with plenty to do before or after. The bill was around $470 for five people. There was one appetizer, five entrees, two bottles of sparkling wine, four cocktails. After tipping, we all paid around $115 each. 4/5 Service: the service was great. We did have one server come by then we had a different server for the rest of the night. We just assumed that the other server had ended their shift, but either way, both servers were attentive and were pleasant. 5/5 Ambiance: the interior design was beautiful! I love the idea of the randomness of the painting and photos on the wall. The music wasn't too loud. I will say the arrangement of was a little tight when walking to the washrooms, which were downstairs (there is an elevator), but I still found it a beautiful restaurant for date nights, a solo dinner, or with friends. 4/5 Overall: 13/15
